La World Cup Series 2022 si concluderà questa settimana CON il Boulder & Lead Honours a Morioka, Iwate, in Giappone.
Nella terza uscita del format dei Giochi Olimpici di Parigi 2024, 67 atleti da tutto il mondo si daranno battaglia per avere la possibilità di salire sul podio e prendere una delle medaglie finali della World Cup Series 2022.
Con il formato visto per la prima volta ai Campionati Europei di Monaco 2022 e, più recentemente, ai Campionati asiatici di Seoul, in Corea del Sud, accumuleranno punti sia nelle discipline Boulder che Lead per generare un punteggio complessivo.
Fresco della medaglia d’oro Boulder e Lead ai Campionati asiatici, il giapponese Narasaki Tomoa cercherà di capitalizzare la forma. Insieme a Tomoa ci sarà la connazionale Ogata Yoshiyuki che ha vinto il titolo della Coppa del Mondo Boulder 2022 all’inizio dell’anno e lo sloveno Luka Potocar che ha vinto la Lead.
A vincere il titolo femminile Boulder & Lead ai Campionati asiatici nel suo paese d’origine è stata la sudcoreana Seo Chaehyun. Un altra contendente sarà la statunitense Natalia Grossman che vanta il titolo di Coppa del Mondo Boulder 2022 e il bronzo dalla competizione Lead.
Mori Ai ha sempre vinto negli eventi di Coppa del Mondo Lead in cui ha gareggiato quest’anno, battendo la Garnbret. La climber giapponese deve ancora partecipare alla Coppa del Mondo Boulders per il 2022, sarà interessante vedere come gareggia nella disciplina corta.
I turni di qualificazione Boulder & Lead maschili e femminili inizieranno oggi alle 9:00 (UTC+9:00); entrambe le semifinali inizieranno venerdì 21 ottobre alle 9:00, mentre la finale maschile inizierà alle 18:10. Sabato 22 ottobre chiuderà l’evento la finale Boulder & Lead femminile, che inizierà alle 14:40.
The International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) World Cup Series 2022 will come to a close this week as athletes compete for Boulder & Lead honours in Morioka, Iwate, Japan.
In the third outing of the Olympic Games Paris 2024 format, 67 climbers from across the globe will fight it out for a chance to stand on the podium and take one of the final medals of the World Cup Series 2022.
With the format first seen at the European Championships Munich 2022, and more recently at the Asian Championships in Seoul, South Korea, the climbers will accumulate points from both the Boulder and Lead disciplines to generate an overall score. Full details of the scoring can be found here.
Fresh off the Boulder & Lead gold medal at the Asian Championships, Narasaki Tomoa of Japan will look to capitalise on a rich vein of form from the event in Seoul last week to push for a podium place.
Joining Tomoa will be compatriot Ogata Yoshiyuki who claimed the Boulder World Cup 2022 title earlier in the year and Slovenia’s Luka Potocar who claimed the Lead series triumph.
Taking the women’s Boulder & Lead title at the Asian Championships in her home country was South Korea’s Seo Chaehyun. Seo will be among the favourites with strong performances in both disciplines throughout the year.
Another main contender will be USA’s Natalia Grossman. The American boasts the Boulder World Cup 2022 title and bronze from the Lead competition.
Mori Ai has been in scintillating form at Lead World Cup events she has competed in this year, taking two golds from two participations. The Japanese climber is yet to take to the World Cup Boulders for 2022 though so all eyes will be on how the young gun fairs as she attacks both disciplines.
The men’s and women’s Boulder & Lead qualification rounds are set to begin today at 9:00 AM (UTC+9:00); both semi-finals will commence on Friday, 21 October at 9:00 AM, with the men’s final beginning at 6:10 PM. Closing the event on Saturday, 22 October will be the women’s Boulder & Lead final, starting at 2:40 PM.
