Rapito il fratello con metodo mafioso in patria e detenuto come ostaggio, Elnaz Rekabi è stata costretta a consegnarsi all’ambasciata iraniana a Seoul, l’arrampicata protesta compatta contro questo vergognoso comportamento delle autorità islamiche, tutt’uno con quelle politiche in Iran.
Per la prima volta il terrorismo di stato colpisce l’arrampicata, con l’arresto e la prossima deportazione in patria e incarcerazione per Elnaz Rekabi, atleta della nazionale iraniana e da ieri dissidente.
In un paese che, anche grazie a un comportamento altalenante tra aperture libertarie e applicazione rigida della legge islamica, la base popolare non è compatta nel seguire una strada o l’altra, una grande ondata di protesta era scoppiata nei giorni scorsi per l’ennesimo episodio inaccettabile agli occhi occidentali: l’uccisione, da parte della polizia religiosa, di una ragazza accusata di non portare “correttamente” il velo obbligatorio.
Oltre 50 persone sono state uccise nei giorni seguenti nel corso delle manifestazioni di protesta di massa, nel tentativo di reprimere nel sangue la rabbia di una porzione del paese.
A quanto riportato dalle agenzie, il fratello di Elnaz Rekabi sarebbe stato fermato a Teheran e usato come ostaggio per costringere l’atleta a consegnare il proprio passaporto e seguire i dirigenti della nazionale presso l’ambasciata iraniana a Seoul, dove Elnaz sarebbe ora rinchiusa in attesa di essere imbarcata su un volo e poi rinchiusa nel carcere per dissidenti dove già si trova una nostra connazionale arrestata durante gli scontri degli ultimi giorni.
Cosa può fare la comunità internazionale dei climbers? Certamente protestare e spingere la IFSC a una rapida presa di posizione sul tema. Nazioni come l’Iran andrebbero bannate dal CIO e i loro atleti transfughi inseriti in una nazionale-ombra che potesse gareggiare al pari delle nazionali ufficiali, per consentire di tenere alto il livello della protesta senza impedire agli atleti delle nazioni punite di gareggiare e di farsi ascoltare come atleti e come esseri umani. According to reports from the agencies, Elnaz Rekabi’s brother was arrested in Tehran and used as a hostage to force the athlete to hand over his passport and follow the national team leaders to the Iranian embassy in Seoul, where Elnaz would now be locked up in waiting to be boarded on a flight and then locked up in a prison for dissidents where one of our compatriots is already arrested during the clashes in recent days.
What can the international community of climbers do? Certainly protest and push the IFSC to take a quick stance on the issue.
